Running my fingers smoothly
through shoulder-length blonde hair,
I slowly toss my head from side to side –
angling my neck up towards a sky
exploding warm droplets upon my face…
This first full day in my new home for now,
I already feel like I’m becoming One
with the palm trees and the birds who, like me,
bathe enthusiastically in the freshness…
Gently, I squeeze wet beads from the ends;
the droplets eager to join their companions
ricocheting off the concrete rooftop
above my bedroom and beneath my bare feet –
reuniting with something greater than themselves…
Just like me…
