Less than half a kilometer from where I am staying is a small “village” temple dedicated to Devi. Earlier this month, was the Temple Festival. Now, after days of unending devotions, preparations are being made to celebrate the “girls” of the village who have become “women” recently (yes, those who have begun menstruating, are officially “announced” and up for viewing by the men of the village and surrounding area). These are the preparations I witnessed.
